About Us

Carl Pickworth – Farmer & Director

Carl has lived at Whitacre Hall all of his life. He took over the sole running of the 380 acre farm some 30+years ago.

He is very passionate about keeping the farm in the family to one day hand it over to the fourth generation of farmers.

His role is to manage the farm’s 333 acres of arable land and 47 acres of ancient woodlands, pools, grasslands and walks that form part of our conservation and environmental work we carry out here on the farm.

In his spare time carl enjoys restoring vintage machinery, in particular caterpillar crawlers, wood work, metal work, pigs and quarter horses.


Teresa Pickworth – Farmer & Diversification Director

Teresa has lived at Whitacre Hall for the last 30 years. Whilst holding a full time job down she worked part time on the farm until giving up her job in 2017 to concentrate on not only supporting Carl working on the farm but to look at diversifying the farm to make it sustainable.

Her first job was to set up and run a livery yard. The next step was to research what sort of projects would fit and work alongside the farm. Teresa decided to host Bluebell Walks and then Open Farm Sunday to test the market to see what was viable and hey presto the tea room and walks idea was born!

The tea room and country walks opened in August 2019 and have proved to be a huge success.  Recently, she has been working on a fairy trail which opened in May 2022.  Who knows what will be next!

Teresa is also responsible for baking all of the delicious cakes in the tea room and can usually be found managing and baking in the tea room kitchen.

She has been a first aider at work for far too many years and a dog first aider for 4 years.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her 4 horses and 3 dogs.


Charlotte Allwood – Tea Room Manager

Charlotte joined the tea room in September 2020 as an Assistant Manager and has since been promoted to Tea Room Manager.  

Her roles entails managing the day-to-day operations of the tea room and can usually be found front of house or in the kitchen.

She has an extensive background in the hospitality sector and really enjoys interacting with people.

Recently she has re-qualified as a first aider and for the first time a dog first aider.

In her spare time, she enjoys her pet snake Liquorice, theme parks, snowboarding and going to the cinema.


Rebecca Hanson – Part Time Assistant Manager

‘Bec’ joined the team in August 2021 as a Barista Maestro, but has since been promoted to Assistant Manager.

Her role entails supporting the Management Team in the day-to-day operation of the team room and can usually be found front of house or in the kitchen.  Recently, she has qualified as a dog first aider and a human first aider.

She also has an extensive background in the hospitality sector and is presently studying part-time at university to become a social worker.

In her spare time, she enjoys pub quizzes


Tony Part Time Tea Room Assistant

Tony joined the team in June 2021 as one of our more mature members of the team.

His role entails working in all sections of the team room and assisting with training the younger members of the team.

Previously, he has worked in IT, engineering and project management.

Nowadays, he enjoys working less and in his spare time can be found walking in the countryside and interacting with wildlife.  He has a special fondness of badgers.


Ellie-Mai Laight – Part Time Tea Room Assistant

Ellie joined the team in July 2020 as a pot washer and has grown and developed into a valuable member of the team.  

She particularly likes being the chef in the kitchen and assisting with the baking.

She is presently studying at college and aspires to be a midwife.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her 2 horses going to local shows and particularly likes show jumping.
